Stories 4 Strength in Cambodia
Angkor Hospital for Children is delighted to be partnering with Stories 4 Strength this month. For two weeks we will be welcoming four artists that will bring theatre, puppetry and music all the way from New York City to provide entertainment and education to children of Siem Reap.
Stories 4 Strength, founded by Annie Worden brings education, healing and play through stories, music and puppetry to children in the developing world. Through her work with UNICEF she’s seen first-hand what an amazing and entertaining tool theatrical storytelling can be in bringing communities together around important issues.
Cambodia will be the first international program of its kind for the Stories 4 Strength team. They were introduced to Angkor Hospital for Children during an annual Friends Without A Border gala in New York City and were inspired to get involved.
The team will bring together a short show from the US which features animals who work together to help their sick friend heal through love and laughter, with some lessons in good hygiene thrown in for good measure! With a trunk full of puppets and instruments we’ll have sing-a-longs, games and fun for patients of all ages!
The Stories team will simultaneously be working with a group of kids from Kaliyan Mith and the AHC peer group to write, build and perform a show at AHC and various other locations around Siem Reap in early April.
As part of the trip, the Stories team are fundraising for general medical supplies to stock up our Out Patient Department. With a target of $2,000 if you’d like to donate please click here and select the “Stories 4 Strength” project.
