Angkor Hospital for Children (AHC) is a non-profit organization providing free medical care and treatment to all Cambodia’s children.

AHC is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team of Public Relations – Cambodia as a Senior Communications Officer that can lead in-country communications including media relations and update AHC’s Social Media on Facebook and YouTube as well as responding to queries and complaints to protect the reputation of AHC from external audiences.

Therefore, the successful applicant will be a person who is highly motivated to learn and further develop their skills working for a NGO non-profit hospital.

Main Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct the public relations programs and efforts designed to create relationships and meet the needs, and objectives, of internal and external stakeholders of AHC including individuals, special interest groups, businesses, and other non-profits and NGOs, and governmental agencies.
  • Identify, research, and develop high impact stories and messages (with support of the supervisor and Communications Manager) to share on social media (AHC and Cambodia news stories).
  • Link in with bloggers and social influencers in Cambodia and ensure AHC gains new followers on a regular basis.
  • Maintain, update and develop the website, media, and Social Media tracking, keeping statistics on interactions, and providing a regular report.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media to increase AHC’ publicity through writing and, distributing press releases, and arranging interviews with broadcast, digital and print media.
  • Supervise and support the in-house Graphic Designer and Media Producer in the production of any artwork or materials requested by the team and other department at AHC.
  • Manage inventory of communications materials and coordinate printing more for the department when needed.
  • Share quarterly newsletter with Cambodia audiences and donors as planned.
  • Participate in the development of Annual Operational Plan and budget for the department and related communications activities.
  • Participate in the development and review of PR and communications policies and implementation.
  • Assist the team with other communications tasks as required, e.g. research for AHC Annual Report, development of marketing materials.
  • Provide support to the PR Cambodia Department team in collateral and event material creations when requested.
  • Accompany journalist or media personnel around the hospital or other related programs of AHC.
  • Regularly report and be able to speak about the progress of the relevant activities to the supervisor or relevant in-country PR/Communications daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly as required.
  • Professionally represent AHC at functions or events in the country, and build networks between potential supporters and the hospital.
  • Assist with photography at events as required.
  • Remain flexible and able to assist the supervisor and team members with other public relations/ communications and event tasks as required.

Position Requirements/Qualifications

  • Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or in Business Administration – major in Marketing, or related field.
  • 3 years of work experiences in a role with similar education requirement (journalism, marketing, communications etc.) for a non-profit organization.
  • A dynamic personality able to solve problems and make things work
  • Fluent in Khmer and English. Other languages would be an advantage.
  • Pro-active, independent, quick thinker, able to problem solve ‘on the go’
  • Ability to represent AHC in public
  • Ability to multi-task – work on many projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office Applications, internet, and email.
  • Understanding of graphic design concepts is preferred and working knowledge of a computer based design program would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Friendly and outgoing personality, as making key working relationships will be important
  • Ability to work flexible hours, to travel locally and nationally
  • Ability to take constructive criticism on board and makes adjustments accordingly
  • Receptive to learn open to new ideas and ready to develop new initiatives
