Angkor Hospital for Children is a leading children’s hospital, which opened in 1999, with a mission to improve healthcare for all Cambodia’s children. AHC’s vision is for all Cambodia’s children have the access to compassionate, quality medical care wherever they live and whatever their ability to pay.

AHC is looking for a new pro-active, self-motivated and compassionate Senior Major Giving Officer. The role involves holding relationships with individuals within Cambodia with the capacity to give four, five and six figure sums to the hospital. The role leads on building a network of potential new supporters giving at this level, in order to significantly grow our income from individuals in the next three to five years and ensure the hospital can remain providing care to patients for many years to come.

The main roles and responsibilities of the Position:

  • Work closely with the Deputy Director of Fundraising to implement the strategy for increasing the number and value of donations from individuals within Cambodia in order to achieve the department financial targets and other KPIs.
  • Build long-term and strong relationships with current donors in Cambodia giving $1k+ through regular contact, meetings and updates in order to inspire repeat gifts.
  • Ensure AHC meets and exceeds the needs and expectations of existing and potential donors with a personalized and thoughtful donor experience to show the hospital’s appreciation and the impact of their giving.
  • Work with the finance team to ensure prompt thank you’s, processing of donations and timely updates for all donors and reports for restricted donations.
  • Identify donors giving under $1k and develop relationships to build further donations and support.
  • Deliver a great supporter experience that upholds AHC’s reputation and encourages donors to recommend supporting AHC to their networks.
  • Encourage existing donors to make introductions within their network, and follow up opportunities swiftly and effectively.
  • Use a variety of external sources to research and identify individuals with the capacity and propensity to give to AHC.
  • Create engagement plans and make approaches to potential new donors, hitting targets for the numbers of quality meetings with new donors.
  • Develop funding proposals for donors and prospects.
  • Liaise with senior hospital staff and senior volunteers (i.e. board members) to develop relationships, proposals and coordinate donor appreciation. .
  • Work with the events team to create interesting and compelling engagement events that build donor loyalty.
  • Work with the communications team on fundraising materials, donor thank you’s and proposals.
  • Work with Grants Manager to identify any grants opportunities via the networks of major donors.
  • Ensure maintenance of all records of donor contact on fundraising database eTapestry.
  • Ensure adherence to all policies in relation to gifts from individuals, donor recognition and Privacy Policy.
  • Continue to raise the profile of AHC by networking at appropriate events.
  • Support the Deputy Fundraising Director with relationships and supporter care for some international donors as required.
  • Any other appropriate task/duty delegated by the Deputy Fundraising Director as required.

Position Requirements/Qualifications

  • Required Education: Master Degree or Bachelor in Business Administration or equivalent experience in sales, marketing or related field.
  • Required Experiences:

    • Essential:
      • Significant track record of excellent relationship management, demonstrated through long-term partnerships, customer satisfaction and income growth.
      • Proven ability of pitching and securing support in face-to-face meetings – in either a sales or non-profit environment.
      • Experience motivating and inspiring people, with a passion for engaging and delighting donors.
      • Proven experience of investigating and establishing new networks and securing meetings from cold.
      • Problem solving and decision making skills with experience of using good judgment to make decisions that lead to positive outcomes.
      • Can evidence engaging external and internal stakeholders in-person, via telephone/email across a variety of levels and disciplines including senior staff, business leaders, service users, volunteers and members of the public.
      • Track record of successfully delivering to clearly defined targets and KPIs and experience managing a pipeline of opportunities independently.
      • Experience of working constructively and collaboratively with internal team in order to build excellent working relationships.
      • Excellent IT skills including experience with Outlook, Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
      • Knowledge and demonstrable experience of working with databases and contact relationship management systems (i.e. Salesforce).
    • Desirable:
      • Understanding of the principles of Major Donor fundraising.
      • Knowledge or experience of the importance of a good supporter experience.
      • Experience of writing fundraising proposals and reports.

      • Pro-active, independent, a quick thinker, able to problem solve ‘on the go’ and use own initiative.
      • Motivated, target-driven and self-starter showing tenacity to get results.
      • Self-aware and able to take feedback on board and makes adjustments accordingly.
      • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to collect and assess information rapidly, identifying key points and summarise as appropriate.
      • Awareness of confidentiality and sensitivity of information.
      • Strong attention to detail.
