I want to go back

Outpatient nurse – staff profile

staff_nurse_profileMy name is Huy Vuth and I’m 25 years old. I am from the Battambang province, about 170km from Siem Reap.  It is one of the agricultural provinces in Cambodia. After I finished high school in 2006, I applied to study at nursing school in Battambang.

I graduated at the end of 2009 and got a job in a surgical hospital in Battambong town as an ER nurse, in 2010 I then moved to Poi Pet referral hospital, still the same position.

One year later, I had the opportunity to take the selection exam in AHC. I was very happy because I was among the nurses who were selected to work at the hospital. I was very proud to be one part of AHC. Two weeks after the training stage was finished I was assigned to work in the Outpatient Department. Sometimes I work in the consultation room and sometimes in the vital signs area. All of my workmates are friendly and we work really well together.

AHC gives me a big chance to improve my clinical care and communication through learning. The hospital offers me English classes three times per week and nursing presentations every Thursday. Now I can use my English to communicate with the entire AHC staff and outside the hospital. I am so happy to be here, and I like to work in OPD because I can use my skills in pediatric life support. It is a pleasure to see children go back home in a healthy condition.

I would like to say thank you for your generous donation for my salary. It enables me to work with confidence and help provide the best medical service to sick children in Siem Reap and beyond.
