Vichet has been a driver for our hospital for 20 years. He originally started as a gardener and, after two years of hard work, became a full-time driver.
“I wasn’t a driver at the beginning. I started as a gardener and worked in that role for two years. In 2008, when the hospital was looking for a driver, I saw it as a chance to try something new and decided to apply.”
After two decades, Vichet is still with us. His work has helped extend AHC’s impact far beyond the hospital walls. Over the years, he has driven teams across Siem Reap and Preah Vihear, supporting fieldwork and outreach activities. At times, he stayed for long periods at sub-offices to assist with operations.

“Through travelling to many rural communities, I’ve seen how much children need medical care.”
Despite the long journeys and demanding schedules, Vichet has chosen to remain at AHC.
“I chose to stay because AHC truly treats its staff like family. Knowing that my work helps support the care of sick children gives me a lot of pride and happiness.”

Looking ahead, Vichet hopes to see the hospital continue to grow. In the next 10 to 20 years, he hopes AHC will have more vehicles and more staff so the team can reach even more places. He also hopes the hospital can continue expanding its outreach, not only in Siem Reap but across Cambodia, so more children can receive the treatment they deserve.
He also shared a heartfelt message to those who make the hospital’s work possible:
“To all the donors who have supported AHC over the years, thank you from my heart. Your generosity supports children across Cambodia and provides livelihoods for staff like me. I am proud to be part of this mission.”
