Beyond our walls

AHC aims to improve healthcare for every child across Cambodia through education for health workers, community members and caregivers.

We're a teaching centre of excellence inspiring a new generation of health workers.

We're working in some of the poorest communities in Cambodia to empower caregivers with vital health information.

AHC is one of three paediatric teaching hospitals rebuilding and futureproofing the Cambodian health workforce. The majority of nursing students in Cambodia train at AHC along with medical, midwife, dental, physiotherapy, social work and pharmacy students within Cambodia and from overseas.

Our unique approach utilises expertise from international mentors and combines theoretical teaching and hands-on training.

I am so grateful for this experience at AHC. I learned a lot of new things from the doctors and nurses here, especially the importance and impact of a warm welcome to all patients, treating them like they are your own family. My goal as a midwife will be to help my village move away from traditional styles of medicine and giving birth, to a modern and safer way to ensure my hometown be a happy community.

In the community

AHC works in some of the poorest and most remote areas of Cambodia.

Access to health services, quality care and levels of health literacy are significantly lower in rural areas, where 75% of Cambodians live. AHC builds rural teachers and health staff’s knowledge, skills and confidence and providing caregivers with simple health information that can prevent children becoming ill.

Vany is my miracle. She was born so small but now she is bigger and growing every day, developing well like other children. I want to say thank you so much to everyone in the neonatal unit for their help in supporting my daughter to be healthy.
