Duties and Responsibilities

Description

Angkor Hospital for Children (AHC) is a non-profit organisation providing free, high-quality medical care to children in Siem Reap. We are seeking a motivated and committed Dentist to join our Dental Department.

The successful candidate will have a strong desire to learn, develop professionally, and contribute to the delivery of quality dental services within a non-profit hospital environment.

Due to the increasing workload within the Dental Department, this position has been created to support daily clinical operations and outreach activities. The department provides treatment to approximately 40 patients per day at the hospital, while outreach programmes serve around 20 patients per visit.

Main Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • To provide comprehensive dental care to patients at AHC and outreach sites.
  • To promote oral health awareness among patients and their caregivers through health education.
  • To build the capacity of dental department staff by sharing knowledge and experience.
  • To undertake any other appropriate duties as delegated by the Chief of the Dental Department.

Position Requirement/Qualifications

  • Required qualification: Registered with the Cambodian Dental Council.
  • Working experience: Not essential, but prior experience is desirable.

Skills and abilities required:

  • Confident in producing and understanding written and spoken English at a professional level.
  • Honest, reliable, and professional.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high patient-load environment.
  • Willingness to travel locally with staff to outreach sites.
  • Keen to learn and share knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to competently perform the following procedures:
    • Pulpotomy
    • Extractions
    • Fillings
    • Root canal treatment
    • Incision and drainage
    • Dental sealants

Requirements

  • A Medical Doctor or Dentist, or higher qualification, from an institution recognised by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, Cambodia.
  • Willingness to learn and continuously improve knowledge and skills.
  • Flexibility in working hours, including availability for daytime and on-call duties.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Good command of English and Khmer (written, spoken, and comprehension).
  • Computer literacy. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and across different hospital units. Enthusiastic, motivated, and hardworking.
  • Honest and trustworthy.

Sokheng Say

Board Member

Sokheng Say is the Founder of Future Beyond Ordinary (FBO), a Cambodian business-owner platform that helps business owners become stronger leaders and build stronger businesses through practical learning, trusted connections and mutual support.

He has more than 20 years of professional experience across finance, accounting, banking, professional services, business advisory, entrepreneurship and leadership. He previously served as a Group CFO, overseeing finance operations across 13 offices in 10 countries in Southeast Asia, and later as Partner and Head of Regional Accounting Advisory Practice at DFDL.

Sokheng currently serves as Chairman of DFC, a tax and accounting firm, and as an Independent Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of KARDAL PLC. He is also a Technical Advisor to Cambodia’s Accounting and Auditing Regulator (ACAR), supporting the development of the National Cambodia CPA Programme and Audit Quality Assurance.


Beyond his professional roles, Sokheng has been actively involved in developing Cambodia’s business and professional communities. He previously served as President of the Kampuchea Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Auditors (KICPAA) and President of Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) Cambodia. He is also an experienced business advisor, trainer and speaker, with a particular interest in helping Cambodian entrepreneurs build stronger, more sustainable businesses.


Sokheng holds an MBA in Finance and a BBA in Accounting and is professionally qualified as FCPA/CPA Australia, ACMA, CGMA and ASEAN CPA.


As a Board Member of Angkor Hospital for Children, Sokheng brings his experience in finance, governance, risk and organisational development to support AHC’s mission and long-term sustainability.
